preserving the art of film photography

A community committed to honoring the art of film photography and elevating the work of wedding photographers.

what we do:

More than just a film community; we offer a space where artistry and passionate wedding photographers thrive. We’re bringing opportunities to the table for photographers to grow in their craft and build bridges between film photographers worldwide.

Let’s gather around the film table as artists

For Documentarians. Archivists. Artists.

Blending weddings with photojournalism, accompanied by the individuals who preserve memories on film

What we’re about:

Here, we’re preserving the artistry and community of our craft with a tight-knit group of film photographers and makers. This is a collective for those who seek to find common threads while exploring different perspectives that challenge thought and artistic processes. Founded by two seasoned film photographers (Margaret Wroblewski & Caitlin Taylor) who wanted a more tangible solution to the questions, needs, and even the serendipitous meetings that lead to lifelong friendships.

Inside the group, you’ll have the opportunity to attend monthly talks with some of the most innovative experts — in and outside of our field — and within an intimate setting with direct access to Q&A and the conversations that result. There are also monthly themes, educational resources, weekly prompts, and more tools to support you in your career, and in your life. We’re making it possible for your voice to be heard, and for this rare style of photography to be preserved while you enrich your own personal approach.

What’s Included:

Monthly Artist talks to learn from professionals who are pushing the envelope, or who bring a diverse and impactful perspective — recorded live with Q&A

  • In a world where we're constantly connected online, it's easy to forget the power of genuine community. Real, heartfelt connections can uplift, inspire, and remind us that we're not alone. Whether it's a close-knit group of friends, a supportive family, or a community of like-minded individuals, these bonds are essential for our well-being. With this group, we can celebrate the beauty of coming together, sharing our stories, and supporting one another.

  • I joined Gather Around Film as an investment in my ongoing education as a photographer and a desire for deeper connection with other artists pursuing wedding photography on film. While initially lured in by the access to detailed resources created by Caitlin Taylor and Margaret Wroblewski (from a glimpse inside their camera bags, wedding day checklists, and advice on posing) and forum for asking questions and sharing experience with other Documentarians, I quickly found myself making deeper connections both with other photographers and with my own work. I’ve found collaborators for wedding days, friends, and inspiration within the Gather Around space, not only expanding my network but also my worldview as an artist.

In a career that can sometimes feel isolating beyond wedding days, I’ve found community in a space where everything from personal wins, probing questions, and valuable experience is freely exchanged. The weekly Artist Talks (whether participated in live or watched as a re-recording) are one of my favorite parts of the community, offering the opportunity to listen to and ask direct questions of creatives both inside and outside of the wedding photography community. I always leave these talks feeling inspired and excited to dig deeper within my own artist practice. Reading through the daily digest and participating within the Gather Around community has become a favorite part of my admin days as an artist. A truly needed space within the photography community, regardless of where you are at in your career or artist practice as a photographer, there is so much for everybody here.

  • "I'm only just dipping my feet into the wild world of wedding photography, and I really cannot overstate how much Gather Around Film has helped me find my footing here. The ability to hear about other artists' processes, to ask questions of some of the best photographers in the biz, and to just have a place to figure out basic business practices has been so helpful, especially as someone who is used to DIYing my life and is looking to take my craft and business up a few steps into professionalism. Gather Around Film has given me so much more confidence in my work, as well as a necessary feeling of community. Everyone is rooting for each other in Gather Around Film, and that's just magical! Plus, the work coming out of this collective is just gorgeous, and these artists inspire me everyday. Gather Around Film has added so much to my art-making process."

  • I cannot speak highly enough about this community. It's essential to begin by acknowledging the founders, Margaret and Caitlin, who have built this space with incredible intentionality, warmth, and openness. It’s evident that the positive energy they radiate has drawn together so many like-minded, talented, and generous artists. For me, the community arrived at a crucial time when I was deep in the process of building my business and finding my way as an artist . Being able to tap into the experience, confidence, and insights of such skilled and authentic photographers, both technically and artistically, has been invaluable. I am so excited to see how this community continues to grow and flourish.

  • Joining Gather Around Film has been one of the best decisions I've made as an artist. Working as a freelancer can often feel isolating, but this space has provided a community to connect with fellow film photographers and grow together. The wealth of resources available, combined with the opportunity to learn from others and develop my craft, has been invaluable. Whether it's sharing experiences, seeking advice, or simply being around people who understand the highs and lows of working as an analog artist, Gather Around Film has truly become a creative haven for me. I'm incredibly grateful for the support and inspiration I've found here.
